The medical science utilities featured on OpenMD
first came online in 2018 and were created to provide
machine learning researchers with rapid access into
medical databases that programs were learning on.
Since then, the Utilities have become primary search
features of OpenMD.
When users say 'the Utilities' it means the following
search tools...
· MedGen
· BioProject
· PubMed Journals
· Clinical Trial Sponsors
· The Human Reference Genome
...each corresponding to a core database provided by
the National Institutes of Health in the United States.
For example, using MedGen a researcher can type
the letter 'A' to see a list of the medical concepts that
begin with that letter.
This form of interaction allows users to quickly search
and discover, interrogating each database by typing
as little as a single letter.
